The "Jester" Section Hiker is the premier podcast with the spotlight on section hikers!

The stories you will hear are about everyday people who, in addition to their everyday lives, make the commitment to hike long-distance trails where every section is a new beginning.

From National Scenic Trails to National Parks and all Trails in between, listen with your host, Julie “Jester” Gayheart, to hear what it means to be a section hiker and the adventure that awaits them section by section.

Feb 13, 2021

Most Sunday mornings you can find Jester at her local Nature Preserve, Latta Plantation in Huntersville, NC. On this particular Sunday morning Jester takes a hike with her guest, Justin Mullins. Justin shares with Jester how he took to the trails to lose weight and began officially Section Hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2019.

The year 2020 did not turn out like most of us expected, but when the ATC recommended hikers to get off the trail for the 2020 hiking season, Justin turned to the Allegheny Trail and the West Virginia Trails Association in his Home State of West Virginia. Tune in to hear how Justin made 2020 his greatest hiking year yet!

Thanks for listening and Happy Section Hiking!
