The "Jester" Section Hiker is the premier podcast with the spotlight on section hikers!

The stories you will hear are about everyday people who, in addition to their everyday lives, make the commitment to hike long-distance trails where every section is a new beginning.

From National Scenic Trails to National Parks and all Trails in between, listen with your host, Julie “Jester” Gayheart, to hear what it means to be a section hiker and the adventure that awaits them section by section.

Today's guest on the "Jester" Section Hiker podcast is Mary Emerick aka Monkey Bars. Mary completed her 8-year section hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in August of 2019. She is also a published author of two books; her memoir, "Fire In The Heart", and a novel, titled "Geography of Water." Mary shares with Jester how she found it hard to hike in "the bubble", and how it is challenging to find hiking partners with the "same hiking style."

"Let's Talk Gear" with Steve Kammeyer: Steve and Jester dive into the world of hammocks. Steve answers questions on what to purchase, proper setup, and shares information about the Palmetto State Hangers "Fall Sprawl."

Episode #13 of the "Jester" Section Hiker podcast is dedicated to Kris "Sherpa" Fowler who went missing on the Pacific Crest Trail in October of 2016. You will hear more about "Sherpa" on this episode during the guest interview and can find more information on the dedicated Facebook page
